Girls Wanna Rock
31st May 2011 - 10th Jul 2011
Girls Wanna Rock is the ultimate in rock and roll sexiness. The show features a scorching hot, all-girl cast who will ignite the stage, shatter guitars and get you rocking in no time.
The incredibly alluring 5 front singers and the all-girl 6- piece band pay tribute to the rock chicks of today, to the pop sounds of the eighties, to the disco divas of the seventies and the flower children of the sixties.
The show is hosted by the unexpected – A MAN - and ladies we are not talking about an ordinary man. We are talking about the slick, talented, good looking and charming Jonothan Didlick, who will have the girls in the audience screaming for more! Jonothan plays a multitude of roles, from the man in uniform to the beach life saver, the crooner, the fifties rock ‘n roller, the sixties hippie, the disco dancer, the eighties nerd and of course the hip hop rapping cool dude! Jonothan is the icing on the cake making the girls wanna rock even harder and the audience party even bigger!
The show features seven decades of music starting in the 1940’s with post-war songs like Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy and swiftly moving on to the fifties icons such as Marilyn Monroe, Patsy Cline, Nina Simone, Wanda Jackson and Nancy Sinatra.
The girls also want to get married so they are Going to the Chapel and Feel like a Natural Woman and then when things get rough they feel like a Chain of Fools and also command some Respect. The new age girls also head to the work place with Nine to Five by Dolly Parton and Honey I’m home by Shania Twain…after Goldie Hawn’ s - A Hard Days Night.
Girls wanna Rock is also about fun when the girls head to the beach and party with songs like Party Time by Gloria Estefan and California Girls by Katy Perry. The icons of the seventies and eighties are saluted with a mind blowing tribute to Cyndi Lauper, Annie Lennox, Madonna, Cher and Whitney Houston and let’s not forget Tina Turner.
In the second half we experience a “blondes have more fun” tribute to Madonna, Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears. We then have the beautiful moment of the soaring ballads where the girls pay tribute to Mariah Carey. Just when you thought it could not get hotter we experience the phenomenal Lady Gaga, who dominates with Bad Romance and Poker Face. We also have warm and acoustic moments with The First Cut is the deepest by Sheryl Crow. The current day divas are saluted with a rocking medley of Pink, Beyoncé, Katy Perry, Avril Lavigne, Amy Winehouse and Taylor Swift.
The Girls also get into a South African groove with a tribute to Brenda Fassie and building to a climax with Shakira and Freshly Ground and the Waka Waka. Girls wanna Rock is the ultimate party with a song list that will appeal to every generation and will take the audience on a musical journey they will never forget!
