LM Radio

28th Jul 2009 - 30th Aug 2009

THE Barnyard Theatre at Gateway is taking audiences on a trip down memory lane with its latest show LM Radio until August 30.

LM Radio was known for its up-to-date top-20 music programmes, variety and request shows. No news broadcast was ever done on the station, which closed in 1975 when Mozambique gained its independence from Portugal. In the same year, the SABC launched a replacement radio station — Radio 5, later 5fm.

To this day, many South Africans fondly recall the days of happy LM listening, so get ready for the nostalgic party of all time. Presented by East Coast Radio’s Dave Guselli, the show features, among others, hits from The Beatles, Tina Turner, Cher, Tom Jones, The Bee Gees, Eric Clapton, Slade and South African’s own seventies pop sensation, Rabbit.

The cast includes vocalists Kieran Rennie, Craig Kallis, Lizaan Vermeulen and Tracy-Lee Oliver and a supporting band made up of Joe van der Linden (guitar), Calli Thomson (keyboards), Nico Badenhorst (bass guitar), Brian Fraser (drums) and Kirsty Madgin (saxophone).
